Protecta Service Transits are designed to maintain the fire resistance of walls and floors breached by continuous cables and plastic pipes. They are ideal if you might need to replace or insert services in the future. Service Transits are also useful in tight spaces where later installation of a regular fire seal can be challenging.
There are currently three options for our service transits:
- FR Service Transit – Standard round casing designed for both floors and walls
- FF Service Transit– Adapted from our FR Service Transit. For floors where the service transit is flush with the soffit side, so it can be positioned on top of shutters and be cast in concrete
- FD Service Transit – A rectangular duct with a lid , which is approved for square plastic ducts. The casing for this Service Transit is made of steel.
Protecta Service Transits are made of a high temperature plastic or steel casing (FD Service Transit). A graphite based intumescent material expands when heated, sealing gaps around cables and pipes. Once sealed, passage of flames, smoke, and gases is effectively stopped.
FR Service Transit is available in 150mm, 250mm, and 400mm lengths. These options allow for different construction depths and required fire classifications.
